Yesterday, Nashville unveiled its newest and most expensive addition to the downtown area – The Music City Center.
The conclusion to $600 million dollar project was kicked off Sunday as apart of two days worth of festivities that ended with a Grand Opening Concert featuring Sheryl Crow, The Time Jumpers with Vince Gill, Fisk Jubilee Singers, and Mikky Ekk0.
The 2.1 million square foot Music City Center has: 13,500 light fixtures, 350,000 square feet of exhibit space, 845 solar panels, 11,000 dinner plates, and a 60-piece art collection, according to visitmusiccity.com.
The center’s conception came after a 2004 study by Metro Nashville recommending the construction of additional convention space, either through expansion of the existing Nashville Convention Center or development of a new downtown convention center, according to its website.
